Location
After a lot of rain for a week, the river Dee in Chester was overflowing it's banks. The hire boats were all chained up and the sky held the promise of more rain. I may never get conditions like this again and I'm glad I had my camera with me. One of my favourite shots of all time.Time
Taken at about mid-day and the banks usually lined with city workers havingLighting

inch and tourists was empty due to the weather.Inspiration
I love drama and everything about these shooting conditions screamed Gothic, horror, apocalypticEditing
Very little post processing apart from adding a little contrast to the sky using NIK app HDR proIn my camera bag
I have a Nikon D2Xs with Nikon AF Nikkor 24-85 f2.8-f4 D . I also carry a sigma EX 10 - 20mm f 4 5.6mm super-wide lens for great WA landscapes. For difficult lighting I use a Nikon speed light SB 400. Very small and lightweight yet enough power to fill some shadows. Also a NikonSC-17 flash extension cable for flexibility. A remote cable release. Spare CF memory card, Giotto rocket blower and lightweight Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
Don't wait for ideal lighting conditions. Sometimes the most creative work comes from creating something special out of less than ideal weather
