I love good architecture, and Liverpool has it in spades. Plenty more visits with my camera planned.

This is the elevator to shopping center, Liverpool One taken from street level.Time
It was a fresh dull day during autumn in Liverpool. As I remember, it was a Sunday morning and I was being shown around by my daughter who was studying there at John Moores University. I asked her "whoat's in there", pointing to a flight of stairs? It turned out to be the entrance to a new shopping center and when I entered the stair-well there was behind it this escalator and I was mesmerised by it's symetry.Lighting
Lighting was a mix of overcast difuse natural light and some spill over from inside the building of flourecent lights, Perfect.Equipment
Hand-held Nikon D3200 with kit lens set to WideInspiration
I was running out of whole buildings to shoot as there were so many in Liverpool and was hoping for something quirky. The combination of textures: marble and brushed stainless steel reflecting light from all angles but with little colour screamed B&W to me which happens to be my favourite method too.Editing
I changed little from the shot original and only played with the contrast a little as I like spontaneous photography. This I'm sure comes from my years as a film photographer. In my camera bag
Nikon DSLR and a couple of zoom lenses. Unlees I know I'm going to be shooting the sea or anything more dynamic.Feedback
I try to take care when preparing for a shot like this. Again this is a leftover from my days shooting film. I try to compose my shots very seldom without braketing too much and try to shoot the finished item straight from the camera just as I did when using masses of expensive rolls of film and processing was not an option and I guess old habits die hard.
