The iPhone photo was taken where I lived and grew up in the US Virgin Islands.Time
I was out photographing various landscapes with another photographer friend around 1:30-200pm when we came across a group of Rasta's who were selling vegetables at their farm on St Thomas (USVI) . The sun was there despite the shaded tree they were sitting under.Lighting
It was late in the day but the light was perfect on his features as I asked him to look at me. I would normally add applications to my pictures but I left this one alone. It spoke just fine as it was I thought.Equipment
I was using my iPhone 7.Inspiration
I am not usually prone to taking people photographs however this guy caught my eye instantly! He at first didn't want me to take it, although immediately breaking into the local dialect as I was accustomed to doing when meeting local West Indians he agreed to pose. I found his features striking but more to the point his stare of looking right at me was saying I trust that you "won't mess me up mi' son" . I was mesmerized.Editing
