Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken at the iconic "Damrak" street in Amsterdam. The water in front of the houses was perfectly still so made a great reflection

Time

I took this photo during blue hour on march 31th 2021.

Lighting

The lights of the houses reflect perfectly in the water of the canal

Equipment

I used a tripod and my go-to camera and lens; Canon 80D + EF24-105 f/4L IS USM at 24mm, f/8, 25s, iso100

Inspiration

I was trying out my then new 24-105 lens, I took this shot before right after blue hour and really wanted to go back during blue hour and with good reflections. After a few tries this is the result.

Editing

Basic adjustments in the highlight and shadow areas, toned the temperature down a notch to get the blue sky.

In my camera bag

Canon 80D, 24-105 f/4L, 16-35 F/4L, tripod

Feedback

This is a must see location in Amsterdam, definitely during Corona times there were no boat trips possible; not good for them but good for me as a photographer. When visiting, wait until summer when the boat tours are less busy and troubling the waters in the canals.
