This image was for the maker of the jewellery in the image. I was trying to capture something of the complexity of feeling around a new engagement. There is the happiness of being loved so much that someone wants to spend their life with you, tinged with the sadness of a past not necessarily so happy as well as the fear of what the future will be.Editing
I did some dodging and burning on the face, brightened eyes, brought out highlights in hair, etc. I have a grey backdrop so I coloured the background (which is a real pain around the floating hair). The necklace was a tiny bit out of focus to I replaced the pendant with a section of another image. I then colour toned the whole image. In my camera bag

Ask actors to model for you - they can help interpret emotion. I always send a mood board and explain the emotion I'm looking for in advance to allow the model/actor time to work on it. This actor and I have gotten to know each other over the last couple of years so that helps as well.
