Location
This was taken from the porch of our family cabin in Gladwin, MI, USA.Time
This picture was taken shortly after I learned how to take night sky pictures. I stepped outside several times throughout the night, but this one was taken shortly after midnight.Lighting
I love the calm of the lake, the reflections of the lights, and the mystery of the night sky. No additional lighting required.Equipment
Nikon D90, Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, Pro Master tripod and a wired remote.Inspiration
Capturing the magic of the lake that I spent many vacations while growing up.Editing
I'm not terribly savvy with post-processing, so if anything, the brightness and contrast may have been tweaked. In my camera bag
I am still quite a novice, but have been acquiring a nice array of equipment. In my bag I have AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G ED, AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED, Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, Sigma 150-600mm 5-6.3 Contemporary DG OS HSM, Nikon D90, and I just got the Nikon D850. Haven't used the D850 yet, it's going to be a bit of a learning curve. Wish me luck!Feedback
When shooting night sky photography, make sure you have a good lens with a low f-stop, a tripod, and a remote. Shoot in RAW (I've been using RAW with jpeg)
