Abstract Object Photography showing the battle between Humanity and the elements is always won by Mother Nature. This is an action image of the last dying days of the magnificent twentieth century clipper , 'Zebu' , before after capsizing in Holyhead Harbour on the isle of Anglesey when her anchor lost its moorings overnight during a gale. The poor lady had already got into difficulties in the Irish Sea some days before and had been towed into the port in the hope of saving and fixing her, but alas , The Sea , that harsh mistress, had other ideas and took her final victory over the sad vessel. the image was hard to get as the ship itself was obscured from view by other boats from the opposite banks and on land by the safety fencing that had been put around her. This meant that telephoto and plenty of zoom were required in awkward conditions to get a shot at all. It was necessary to use my point and shoot Canon HS730 which is perfect for such occasions when bulky equipment is unsuitable or unsafe for the task ( which was true in this case as I am not the Worlds strongest Woman and I needed to lie on the harbour side with my head over the edge at a bend in order to get a close up , unobscured image ). Continuous shooting helped to produce a good representation of the blue of the water and choppy waves even on a clear day with a light wind. the image is an unedited version .
