Behind The Lens

Location

After a long day's drive to Florida and getting settled into our condo, a friend and I went down to the beach to watch the sunset. This spectacular sunset was taken at Seagrove Beach, Florida.

Time

One of my favorite times of day to take photos is at sunset or dusk. This was taken as the sun was setting over the Gulf of Mexico with the amazing sugar white sand beach that are unique to this stretch of Florida.

Lighting

It's very tricky taking pictures when facing the sun. Unfortunately, you can lose your subject. I try to focus on a subject and use the sun as the backdrop which will only enhance the subject.

Equipment

Since I was in a rush to get to the beach and catch the remaining light, I used my Samsung 8 phone.

Inspiration

My family and I had traveled 12 hours to go on this vacation, and I desperately wanted to commemorate my arrival. What a marvelous sight it was to be greeted with this amazing sunset!

Editing

I love the HDR filter that is available on Snapseed, so that is what I used in this case. And then I used Lightroom to enhance the clarity and texture.

In my camera bag

I can't lug around a bulky camera bag, so I carry a compact one that always has my Sony camera and my Samsung A11 phone ready and available.

Feedback

Revel in the moment. Think about why you are taking the picture. I rarely take pictures just to take pictures. I want to capture a moment in time, a feeling, whether it's mine or the subject's.
