Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a clients back yard. We shoot once or twice a month for Matilda Jane Clothing brand.

Time

Believe it or not, this was shot at mid day. Thankfully it was cloudy so we didn't have blinding light.

Lighting

This was shot using only the natural light available.

Equipment

I shot this with my Canon 5D Mark IV and a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L. No tripod or flash were used, this was shot handheld.

Inspiration

Again, we were shooting for a clothing campaign. Our model just enjoyed blowing the dandelion puffs!

Editing

I did do a little touch up in Adobe Camera RAW, as well as a little adjusting and leveling in Adobe Photoshop CC 2021.

In my camera bag

I always pack my bag with my Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Canon 100mm f/2.0 Macro, and I usually have a Canon Speedlite in there just in case we end up indoors and I need the extra light.

Feedback

The best advice I can give, from my personal experience, is that while you can get kids to pose certain ways, often the best images come out of just letting kids be kids. Just snap away while they are doing what they love to do.
