I took this picture during a photo safari in Tanzania and in particular in the Serengeti National Park.Time
We were moving from the south of Serengeti Nat'l Park to the North, toward the border with Kenya. The afternoon was cloudy and the sun was about to set. It was around 5 pm when we met a huge herd of buffaloes. They were practically on our way, we were driving very slowly through all of them. Then we stopped to take some pictures, but didn't notice immediately these three buffaloes staring at us. So I turned around and took this picture. No tripod and very little light.Lighting
As I said before, not much light and no tripod, I had to improvise by increasing film sensitivity and adjust it with aperture and shooting time.Equipment
For this picture I used my Nikon D600. The lens was a Nikor 70/200 f2,8. Nothing else was used.Inspiration
When you go on a photo safari, you always look for some kind of action, but, unfortunately, it happens very rarely. Most of the time you only see different kind of wild animals roaming around the Savannah or bush, so you need to find a nice spot, possibly good light and try to interact with the beast. In the case of my picture, these three buffaloes staring at me like that, was great.Editing
I normally don't do any major post-processing, I am not very good at it. All I did in this picture was to try to adjust the light, as it was very poor at the time I took it.In my camera bag
For many years now, in my camera bag there is my loyal Nikon D600 and a 24/70 and a 70/200 both f2,8 lenses. Sometimes, I add a Nikor 14mm f2,8, but wide angle lenses cannot be used too much.Feedback
I am not professional, I cannot give great advices. All I can say is to read about the technique and practice as much as you can. Be careful about the light, as well as the framing, both extremely important.
