I took this picture at Harnas Wildlife Foundation, near the city of Gobabis in the Kalahari desert, Namibia. Harnas is an organization who rescues orphans or injured wild animals and cure them before releasing to freedom again. It may take years before these animals can be released between the time needed to cure and teach them how to hunt. The beauty of this place is that you can interact with this lovely big catsTime
It was August, around 4 pm when I took this picture. Sun started to go down as August is winter time in Namibia and at 6 pm is night.Lighting
Best time of the day is either early morning or sunset. Frankly speaking I prefer sunsets as I don't like waking up too earlyEquipment
The camera used is a Nikon D90 and the lens was the Nikor 70 - 300mm. No tripod, no external lightsInspiration
My idea was to take a picture of this cheetah in action, but cheetahs are quiet lazy animals, so after waiting a bit of time, I noticed the position and light were just perfect for this shoot.Editing
Not much post-processing on this pictures. It was taken in Jpeg, not raw, therefore I just added a bit of contrast. In my camera bag
Now I have a Nikon D600 and being a full frame I had to change all my lenses. What I use mostly is the Nikor 24-70mm F2.8 and the Nikor 70-200mm F2.8Feedback
As I said before, the best time to take pictures is early morning or later in the afternoon, when the sun is not high in the sky. Then, being patient, especially if you take pictures at wild animals, but it is more as a general rule for every photographer. Last, but not least, a good eye capture: same subject may be photographed from different points, but usually only one is the "good" one.
