The beginning of the route Valtavaara was the most demanding. There were a lot of high rises and they were also icy in places. The first mile was mostly climbing upwards, but after that it eased and the journey continued for some time on fairly flat land. The initial ascent was rewarded with stunning scenery in the sun.
