Wild hyacinths can be recognized by the tubular flowers with a curled edge. The original Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta according to Linnaeus) has a nodding stem tip. The flowers are on one side of the stem. The invasive species H. hispanica has flowers around the stem and the top of the stem is upright. The flowers of the latter are also paler in color and the pollen is blue. The pollen of H. non-scipta is white.
