Location
Along the Aldridge Creek Greenway in Huntsville, Alabama USA.Time
Mid-afternoon.Lighting
The bright overcast light was just about perfect for this shot.Equipment
I used a hand-held Sony A7RIII with a Sony 90mm f/2.8 G macro lens. No flash or tripod.Inspiration
These eastern daisy fleabane wildflowers are small (less than 0.75” in diameter) and have such delicate details. I hoped a macro photograph would reveal details less obvious with the naked eye.Editing
To make the image pop, I made these adjustments in Capture One: Luma curve: nudged the darks and moderately pushed the lights. Clarity and structure: moderate increases Color: lightened the yellows I did not crop, or adjust saturation/vibrancy or sharpening. In my camera bag
I like to travel light, so I take only what I think will be necessary. When this photo was taken, my bag contained only the camera, mounted lens, extra battery, and lens pen, and pen and paper. I should have had a tripod with me.Feedback
A tripod and triggering the shutter with a remote device or self-timer is almost mandatory for close-ups like this. I was lucky to get a sharp handheld shot with such shallow depth-of-field.
