Greenfinches live up to their name: they can be recognized by all kinds of shades of green in their plumage. The Greenfinch is originally an inhabitant of forest edges and semi-open fringed vegetation. Now that natural habitat is rare, the Greenfinch mainly inhabits cultural landscapes: as long as there are enough dense shrubs. Greenfinches eat seeds. In their sturdy beak they vibrate the fruit from the skin while turning it in order to be eaten.
