While many birds make a test flight from the nest, it is slightly different with a young tawny owl. He is not yet able to fly, but he climbs on a branch, more often he tumbles down awkwardly. With its sharp claws it climbs back up to a branch. Hence its name Takkeling. From that time on he will be fed for several weeks and will start with more flying lessons. Then he flies out in search of his own place.
