I was surprised to see one pair of the Hooded Mergansers left at our park. I was further surprised when I was leaving the park walking by this big pond (we called it Baldwin Lake) and saw this male caught a huge crayfish (for merganser standard). The late afternoon sunlight really popped the color of the crayfish for me to capture the whole sequence of how the merganser broke the claws and legs off the crayfish before gulping it down. What a nice dinner!
