Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo from a footbridge in the resort where I stayed. This was in Inle Lake, Myanmar.

Time

This was probably past 7am. Our photo group had just finished shooting sunrise scenes.

Lighting

The Intha, the indigenous people who live in and around Inle Lake are resilient in their say of life. Fishing and water-based agriculture are the top livelihood practices. This scene caught my eye because it had a poignant story to it - a fisherman setting off into the morning’s calm waters, to begin his day.

Equipment

Shot with a Fuji XT2 and Fujinon 10-24mm lens. No flash, no tripod, no filter. Just a quick draw shot using available light.

Inspiration

I was mainly observing the random movements of the fishermen, who our guide had asked to come and pose as models in our sunrise shoot. This man left the group and I happened to just be shooting from the footbridge where he had just passed under. The serenity of the scene struck me.

Editing

As this was shot in raw, I did basic post-processing in Photoshop, a bit of cropping, curves adjustment, and vibrance.

In my camera bag

I usually carry 2 bodies attached with telefoto (50-140mm) and ultrawide (10-24mm) lenses. Spare lenses are a 35mm for street shooting and an all around 16-55mm. I also bring my filters - GND, ND, CPL, for long exposure landscape shooting.

Feedback

As a travel photographer, I lean more towards story than technicals. Make you image count by making it your own story - a glimpse into your unique experience.
