Location
The photo was taken in Suomenlinna, Finland. Suomenlinna is a sea fortress on eight islands next to the port of Helsinki. The citadel is popular with tourists. However, part of the archipelago remains military facilities and residential buildings.Time
I took this picture at 4 pm in mid-March. That time daylight hours in Finland are no longer as short as at the beginning of winter. But twilight was already settling.Lighting
On that trip, we spent about ten days in Helsinki. The sun hardly appeared. But the real problem was the cold wind on the islands. However, it was a great travel.Equipment
This was filmed with a Canon 350D. To be honest, over the years, I don't remember which particular lens I used. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I have been to Helsinki many times, and I love this city at any season. In this particular case, the residential buildings on the island caught my eye. The snow-covered land merged with the frozen sea. The yellow, weathered buildings stood in the middle of the white plain as if they kept the inner heat.Editing
In this case, I used some filters and curves. In my camera bag
I had my camera always with me. When I’m traveling or walking in the means to take some photos, I have two lenses (zoom and wide-angle), sometimes two cameras, three lenses, a tripod, and, of course, spare batteries.Feedback
What can I advise here? Whenever you are in a popular location, try to step aside and see what is there.
