Location
This photo was taken on a chilly February afternoon in a natural area of the foothills of northern Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.Time
This was taken in the afternoon, around 3pm. Being at the base of the foothills along the east side of the Rocky Mountains, it starts to get quite cold when the sun goes down.Lighting
This was taken using all natural lighting.Equipment
I used my Canon 6D Mark II with the Canon 24-105mm lens.Inspiration
My inspiration for this photo is this girl. She is a senior in high school this year but is unlike any other senior I have ever done sessions for. She and I have a wonderful connection, not only as a photographer and client but also as a friendship. As I began her initial senior session, I realized just how natural she is in front of the camera. We can read each other's movements. She seems to know just which way I want her to move. She takes every request from me in stride, whether it be climbing fences or rocks, or to stay out in the freezing weather to just get one more beautiful shot. Her first session has turned into four at this point because I just cannot get enough of her in front of my camera. She is a beautiful girl, inside and out.Editing
I just did some simple adjustments to exposure and cropping in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I carry my Canon 6D Mark II body with the 24-105mm lens and a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. I try to keep my bag light as I carry it with me when traveling in a Jeep or on a motorcycle throughout much of the year.Feedback
I am a self taught photographer. I am always striving to improve my skills whether it be in landscape, portrait or even in my own backyard with kids, pets and anything else that I can get up close to for improving macro techniques. It's definitly a good idea to focus on a specialty within the field of photography but I would tell anyone to let inspiration come from anywhere and just make it about having fun!
