Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, from my bedroom balcony.Time
It was around 14:15 on December 21, 2020 when a patch of fog was moving around the little islands in west side of the bay isolating them from the background trees.Lighting
I like the tranquil mood created by the fog in the bay.Equipment
This was shot handheld with my trusted Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8 VR II on a Nikon D500.Inspiration
Having lived on the ocean for 10 years, I knew the islands would pop as soon as the fog patch started moving west, so I quickly grabbed my gear and when upstairs to the balcony.Editing
In post-processing I simply made the color tone slightly warmer by adjusting the white balance a bit.In my camera bag
In order to be able to respond quickly when the light condition calls, I normally have a few frequently used lenses on their own body ready to go, including the 70-200mm on a D500, 24-70mm on a D850, a 15-30mm on a D750, and a 105mm macro on a D780.Feedback
Be at the right place during the right time is the key.
