Hiking by myself along the bay overlook trail, amidst humid fragrant air and the lush foliage I was able to ground myself for a moment. As I stared out across the shoreline, where the ever-changing nature of the ocean and steadfast resilience of the rocky cliffs meet, I felt very much connected to myself and the natural world that I exist within. For that brief period of time, I felt like I had a clear understanding of my place in things. I felt like no matter what my future held, I would be ok. I was the cliff, weathering the ceaselessly battering waves of life. I will persevere, and I will prevail.
