This photo was taken in Brighton, during a walk on the seafront at sunset, after a rainy day. I am just an amateur photographer, a regular girl who likes to show her own perspective using any camera she comes across.Time
It was about 4 or 5 PM, the sun sets pretty early during the winter months. There was an unexpectedly beautiful sky after a rainy day and mother nature was putting up a magnificent show in the sky. Even the city and its gray traffic seemed to stop and stare at it, reflecting its colours in the puddles on the concrete promenadeLighting
The sky was breathtaking, magical. Anything would have looked good in that light, really. The puddles were amplifying the whole sense of enchantment, it was a proper golden hourEquipment
This was only shot with my phone, a Samsung s10e and a lot of patienceInspiration
Thus picture was taken during one of the many lockdowns in England, I lost count. I remember being quite upset for everything that was going on and for the fact that my only day off from the hospital had been a rainy day, so I decided to take a legally permitted walk by the seaside. I was amazed by the beautiful, spectacular show that I witnessed during my walk. For a moment, all the ugly and uncertainty stopped, leaving the stage to the majestic mother nature. It was breathtaking and therapeutic. On that moment, I felt incredibly grateful for the little, magical things that can still make us smile throughout the difficulties, and I wanted to capture that sensation, the contrast between gray and gold, nature and concrete, as a reminder that there is always beauty around us, if you know where to look. It took me a few attempts, until I found this very convenient puddle reflecting just that magnificent beauty together with the buzzing traffic.Editing
I corrected the white balance just a little bit, but really the light was so naturally perfect that there was nothing to addIn my camera bag
I used to always carry my nihon d3000, but for many reasons I lost my confidence with it and need to practice more. So these days I normally just carry my phone, making sure there is plenty of space left.Feedback
Every photo is unique. Find your perspective and don't be afraid to look silly, lying on the concrete promenade to try and capture the reflection from a puddle!
