Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Nazaré, in Portugal. It was taken during the Carnaval in February 2020.

Time

It was taken mid-afternoon. It was February but a clear, sunny day.

Lighting

The light was rather harsh because it was during the afternoon.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 700D and a 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

It was the Carnaval, people were dressed in costumes all over the place, there was a parade going on and in every corner there's a "band" playing it's own music. This guy looked really cool and "jazzy" with his hat, sunglasses and trumpet and became a magnet for my camera.

Editing

I did some post-processing, just a little of lightroom to soften the effects of the harsh light.

In my camera bag

I love to walk around with my bag, so I try and travel light. Usually my Canon EOS 700D, and a couple of lenses depending on the day. On this specific day I had my 18-55mm, a 70-200mm and a 50mm 1.2 prime. Spare batteries and memory cards are essential.

Feedback

Keep a watchfull eye. In situations like this there's a lot going on at the same time, many things competing for your attention so you'll need to keep a clear head and a watchfull eye so you don't miss "the moment". Also, keep in mind your objective, your photographic aim so you don't wander off and loose your focus.
