This photo was taken in a small public garden in front of the church in Riachos, Portugal, where I live. This just goes to show that you'll find subjects every and anywhere... you just have to keep your eyes open.Time
This shot was taken around 10 a.m. during one of my countless walks through my town. I usually just walk without a determined route... just going where the light and instinct lead me. This was one of those times... I've walked past these flowers and shot them so many times, but on this day the fact that one was fully open and the other fully closed caught my eye.Lighting
This photo was taken during the morning of a cloudy day. I love to shoot this type of images in subdued light...this can help to show all the beauty of the flowers without having harsh shadows.Equipment
At the time of this photo I had a Panasonic DMC-FZ38 and that was the only equipment I used.Inspiration
What caught my eye that day was the fact that there was an completely open flower right next to a completely closed one... each as beautiful as the other.Editing
Nothing much.. just a pinch of contrast to make the colors pop a little more.In my camera bag
At the time I had just a Panasonic DMC-FZ38 with a couple of filters... theses days I pack my Canon EOS 700D, and a couple of lenses depending on the day. My usually setup is a 18-55mm, a 70-200mm and a 50mm 1.2 prime. Spare batteries and memory cards are essential.Feedback
The best advice for this type of shots is just to keep your eyes open. Work the subject shooting from different angles to see how the light influences the image. Get to the subject's level even if it means you'll have to kneel or lie down... I've been the target of countless stares while shooting low :).
