The photo was taken in Santa Cruz, Torres Vedras, Portugal in one of its awesome beaches!!Time
The photo was taken on August 24, 2007 at around 11 PM.Lighting
I wanted tis image to look mysterious and magic capturing the motion of the water to give it also a dreamy effect, so I had to pay attention to light because the only way to do that is whit a long exposure. So I had to control the light so that the bright areas wouldn't become to bright and the dark ones to dark, with exposure, aperture and ISO.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 400 D, with an Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM and a MTL 9251B Giottos Tripod. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
The landscapes of these beaches in this particular coast of Portugal always fascinated and inspired me, so obviously I love to capture them in different conditions, night or day, cloudy or sunny, different angles and points of view, and they are always are a challenge to be able to catch them in the camera in the perfect way.Editing
Normally landscape photography require a bit of post-processing but when you take it to long-exposure you'll be needing it a bit more, in this case I had to remove the noise and off course, convert it to black & white and then some corrections in the contrast and levels. In my camera bag
Now, in my camera bag, I normally have a Canon 30 D, a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM and a MTL 9251B Giottos TripodFeedback
To capture similar photos you have to train your eye for black and white photos and try to predict the outcome, not every photo looks good on black and white, some look better in color and others look better in black and white. Then you have to pay attention to light, how it hits your object and how it reflects, in photography that's very important. Have patience and try a lot of different settings, angles and light. For this one, try to find some awesome coasts that you can shot, find a perfect spot and have fun!!
