Location
This was taken from my open bedroom window on a sunny afternoon. It overlooks a 125' long Forsythia hedge allowed to grow wild to make a colorful hide for my bird friends.Time

This was taken with a Nikon D500 with a 500PF lens handheld with natural light.Inspiration
I find all birds interesting. I love watching them any time that I can. For me there is no species too common for my attention. This Cardinal was cavorting in the bushes. I waited for it to settle on an unobstructed branch in bright but even lighting.Editing
I processed the RAW image in Lightroom using the crop tool with respect for the principle of thirds. Various sliders were used to optimize color, brightness, and contrast. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D500 with a 500PF lens mounted on most of my photography forays. I often bring along a Nikon D750 with a 70 - 200mm 2.8 lens or 24 - 70mm zoom. I always have a couple of extra batteries on me and a bottle of H2O.Feedback
Do not overlook the common local species. They all have their own beauty to impart. Be patient, still and quiet. Have your equipment ready to shoot. Establish your likely camera settings and be ready to change them quickly as circumstances flow.
