Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during a 5 hour, multi location session with a young lady that I did a number of sessions with...due to her ability to being very comfortable in front of a camera. The photo was taken during the second of three segments. It was shot at an old abandoned two story farm house (with permission from the owner and the nearby care-taker) located in a rice field.

Time

The photo was taken in the afternoon about 4:30 pm (CST). Conditions were perfect and there were many trees around for the right lighting conditions and shade.

Lighting

Lighting was perfect...afternoon with a low sun angle and excellent shade to work under. I utilized a single flash unit bounced through a white umbrella on a light stand for fill.

Equipment

Equipment: Nikon D40x with a Tamron 28-75mm lens. Hand held camera was set to f/2.8 @ 42mm and ISO setting of 100.

Inspiration

Simple: the beautiful talents of this lovely young lady.

Editing

Post processing was done on an e-Mac. Software was Photoshop Elements with some tweaking using Topaz software.

In my camera bag

I usually carry 2-3 lenses and when I have them, two Nikon cameras, off camera flash unit, light stand and either silver or white umbrella attachments. Other accessories such as batteries, memory cards, a white/color balance card, and other helpful items...

Feedback

Usually, I go on a session with no plan other than work with the individual utilizing the talents of the person and mutual ideas to work with. Some discussion of what we hope to do is discussed ahead of the planned session.
