Behind The Lens

Location

Part of my ridge run video for my you tube channel, this was taken on top of a mountain ridge behind my mining camp. We mine iron ore which shops to china to make steel for the world. this is what high content iron ore looks like naturally in and on the ground. The pilbara is a massive area and a huge amount of the worlds iron ore comes form here. Next time you pick up something made of steel just remember this is how it started!

Time

morning, it gets to 50 deg delicious here so i always do morning runs especially up the hills! dehydration kills here and have to be safe. Id say this would of been around 8am in morning.

Lighting

natural pilbara sun ! we have tons of that too, i still have never seen snow in my life. But boy do i know about hot !

Equipment

Canon M50 , this was my new Sigma 18-35mm art series f1.8 lens i believe. One of its first test runs out on my camera. handheld shot too.

Inspiration

I love the shapes in the bush here, Nature is huge here. Th Pilbara is so amazing and all people know about it is the mining unfortunately!

Editing

Yeah light room, basically soften around the central rock to give it a little more depth. And then standard contrast adjust with luminosity masks.

In my camera bag

M50, sigma 16mm, 18-35, 55-200 canon just got an RP canon and learning it. dji mini 2 drone. NiSi filters. 3 legged thing tripod albert its awesome. and lume cubes to light up anything when shoot astro stuff. iPhone 12 pro to do my video on a switch pod and dji om 4.

Feedback

Come to Karinjini national park its just down the road form my work ad its probably better then half the other national parks you've heard of form australia. But it is amazing country especial when its raining dec, jan, feb time ! but bloody hot bring a hat long sleeves and lotsa sun screen and good boots ! danner is my preferred they save me so much pain.
