Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my hotel balcony. I was on a business trip to Yokohama and was lucky enough to have this view from my room.

Time

It was 10:20pm local time in Yokohama, Japan. This is visible on the huge digital clock on the giant wheel :). The colourful lights all around made it so lively even though it was late.

Lighting

The lights from the high speed cars on the road alongside gave a nice opportunity for trails. And the light reflection sin the water body just made it magical with all its bright colours.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D5300 with a Nikkor 18-140 lens which I love as the perfect travel companion. Unfortunately, I wasn't carrying a tripod but managed to rest the camera on side rail.

Inspiration

The sight itself was alluring enough and waiting to be captured. The colours and vibrancy of the atmosphere enhanced by the reflection in the adjacent water body made it magical. I felt happy just by looking at it. So the next thing I do is capture the moment and create a happy memory.

Editing

I used Lightroom mobile application for post processing to realign and enhance the contrast & blacks.

In my camera bag

I carry my Nikon D5300 with the all rounder Nikkor 18-140. Sometime I carry a 70-300mm and a Prime 35 depending on the where I am of to. I do carry a Canon SX720HS for its bridge and zoom capabilities. If there's a video or wide angle requirement, I have my GoPro Hero 7Black.

Feedback

Tripod is important for long exposures and low light. Also a larger sensor camera might help. But it is all about having fun and learning in the process for me. So have fun and happy clicking :)
