This is the Imperial Hotel located at Ravenswood, Queensland. Built in 1902 by James Delaney and run by the family for most of the century, this hotel was a sign of the prosperity of Ravenswood due to the discovery of gold. The original hotel built the year earlier burned down along with the the whole block of adjoining buildings. The town produced bricks since it's early years so the hotel was rebuilt with bricks along with many other buildings.
Apart from beautiful architecture the Imperial is also famous for it's ghost, she 'resides' in room 12A. The night I stayed I was in room 12...yeah, right next door! I did wake in the middle of the night to a noise 'in' the wall, the same noise that occurred three more times. Surely just my imagination?
The room belonged to Catherine Delaney who died when she was 6 from polio.
