The common kestrel is best known for praying, which you often see along the road. For a long time the most numerous bird of prey, but that is now the buzzard. Yet it is still a distinctive bird of the open country in the Netherlands. An outspoken field mouse hunter, who likes to breed in open country nest boxes. When there are few mice, it also picks up young meadow birds or sparrows. Takes prey from the ground only.
