The memory I have of the day I rode to Cascais to get this shot is a strange one. It’s mixed with bad emotions and excitement:
I was struggling with the anger of a bad day and fighting myself to get out of the house and take advantage of the amazing weather and cloudy skies.
Needless to say that, the second I hopped on my bike everything disapeared. While I rode through the traffic, the sky changed above me, promising an amazing sunset.
I had never visited this place and was blown away by its beauty. It’s like a tropical beach just off the road and the weather definitely helped making the scene even better. It was warm and there was no wind, just a gentle breeze that warmed me up while I was setting my gear. The water is of a transparent green that you’d expect to find anywhere else but here and the bottom is completely visible. Filled with rocks and letting in the final sun rays of the afternoon, the place looked and felt like it had stopped in time just for the shot.
(I have to admit that I didn’t go for a swim only because I didn’t have my shorts and towel. Thats how good it felt to be there. The water was so inviting and the breeze was so warm)
As the night started to come in, the lighthouse turned on its beacon and the lights of the fort next to it came on as well. It was almost time to pack everything and head home when I spotted a star shining above me and leaving me to think that this would be an amazing place to capture the night sky.
