Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a paddock 15 min from my home in Australia where you friend was looking after Cowboy.

Time

I arrived at the paddock around 9:30 in the morning, it was a partly cloudy day with the shadows increasing as the day progressed.

Lighting

Cowboy had such a beautiful nature and gentleness, I wanted to capture that.

Equipment

I used my Canon RP with 35-120 lens with f4.

Inspiration

My friend called me up knowing that I’ve been taking pet photos lately, I booked a time right away knowing my schedule was tight and I don’t want to miss this opportunity.

Editing

I did do some post production, he had a hair through his eye that was distracting and I brought up the texture, shadows etc to show the details of his beautiful hair.

In my camera bag

For this shoot I took my RP body, my 35-120 lens, my 50mm prime, and my polerized lens

Feedback

Take your time to get familiar with the subject first, shoot wider than you need because horses don’t sit still long. Move the horse to other areas for different light and angles. Don’t allow treats until the shoot is over, chewing does not look pretty ;)
