Behind The Lens

Location

The original location of the road is at mundi mundi lookout at silverton nsw where they shot a mad max 2 scene . basically the outback just outside broken hill nsw Australia

Time

This road shot was taken mid afternoon, outback broken hill attracts artists and photographers world wide and is sought for cinematic movies because of the light in the desert style environment , sunsets are incredible.

Lighting

Yes as above the outback regions have amazing light , clear night skies and stunning sunsets , clean air and red reflections are abundant.

Equipment

My go to camera atm is my amazing Nikon Z6 lens 70-200 , almost all my work is no flash esp if you need to composite an epic scene , i actually rather use the word blending as if artificial light is used sometimes matching light is difficult.

Inspiration

Well number one this region lends itself to do amazing sci fi images and alien scenes which a few maybe seen on my profile . im a sucker for good action and sci fi work , the spiders came from software called pixel squid , iv been trying to work it into a scene and this just developed through my alien series which i hope to make an exhibition of.

Editing

Yes its obviously a post made up image of the outback roadway , my alien series and spiders from mars , the title from Bowie i guess which stuck in my head . Love apocalyptic scenes and dark environments and clouds tend to bring this out more.

In my camera bag

Nikon Z6 im travelling with more , but if need have a high res D850 for portraits and larger natural landscapes , action i use Nikon D4 , still a great camera , lenses, 20-200 2.8 24-70 2.8 nikon and a sigma 15 mm for fun stuff.

Feedback

I always refer to Albert Einstein ...... "Imagination is more important than knowledge" , this is so true, when you think about it if you didnt imagine or dream an idea nothing would become reality , experiment , explore inspirations from others . many credit my works and i look at other photographers and imaging artists and go wow , always want to be better in your work , use others to strive to be better . In my work my most inspirational person to strive to be is world famous unit still photographer . Jasin Boland, his work and featured film shots are world class and inspirational . do what inspires you and love . Richard
