Location
I shot this photo in my Swift Current, Saskatchewan neighbourhood from across the street just a couple houses away from our house.Time
I took this photograph approx half hour after sunset at 6:18PM CST (2020 October 31). Sunset in Swift Current, Sk on 2020 October 31was at 5:48PM.Lighting
It was dusk (approx half hourafter sunset), but the inflatable decorations were well lit from electric lights inside of them.Equipment
I shot this photo hand-held with my Nikon D750 Nikkor AF - S 70 - 200mm f /2.8G ED VR II lens @ 105mm Manual f/2.8 1/125 sec White Balance set at "Cloudy" ISO 1600 Centre-weighted Average Metering.Inspiration
In an effort to get out and about with my cameras, I decided to give myself a personal challenge for 2020... to shoot at least one photo every week following the themes I randomly selected. The week's theme was "Hallowe'en", so I went for a short walk down the street in my neighbourhood with my camera in hopes to capture a couple of the neighbourhood Hallowe'en displays. I haven't done night photography, so it was a challenge.Editing
This photo was shot in JPEG. I used ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2020 to crop the photo and to make adustments to the lighting as well as to adjust the clarity. In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D750, D200 and D5100 cameras in my bags along with my Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II,a Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD, a Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens, Nikon f/2.8 105mm Micro f/2.8 lens, and a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens. I also always have my Samsung S8+ SM-6955W cellular phone with me (I like to use it when I want or need a wider angle photo.)Feedback
Shooting in low light or dark conditions is out of my comfort zone. My advice to others is to step out of your comfort zone and do some shooting in light conditions you aren't comfortable with. Hallowe'en decorations are often brilliant colours and good lighting. Shoot with different settings and don't be afraid to increase the ISO to get the photo. I don't usually shoot with an ISO of 1600 but even with a fast f/2.8 lens, I had to get more light, so that meant increasing the ISO. Most important of all... always have fun!!!!
