Behind The Lens

Location

My husband and I recently purchased a pontoon boat to be able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery in Arizona. This picture was taken at Canyon Lake, AZ. We were sitting in a small cover and I saw this amazing sunset forming. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Time

This picture was taken on October 25, 2020 at 5:42PM.

Lighting

I did not use any additional lighting for this shot, just the amazing sunset.

Equipment

Amazingly this was taken on a Samsung Note9 cellphone. I did not have my Sony Alpha6000 camera at this time.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo because the setting was amazing. The way the canyon framed the water, the colors of the sunset and the way it reflected on the water was just a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Editing

I did do some slight processing in Snapseed to crop the photo.

In my camera bag

This picture actually inspired me to finally make photography a serious hobby and I now have purchased a new Sony Alpha6000. I have a Sony 16-50 OSS lens and a 210MM telephoto lens. I am very interested in wildlife photography and would like to eventually invest in a better telephoto lens with a large zoom range.

Feedback

So many of my best pictures are being in the right place at the right time. My advice would be to constantly be aware of what opportunities present themselves and be ready to take the picture, even if it is with your cellphone.
