The smallest of the three remaining octagonal watermills is still very regularly in operation.
The only 159 ha Vervoorne Polder was diked in 1552. At that time a hollow post mill was depicted on the current location. The existing mill was built at the beginning of the 18th century, after the hollow post mill was destroyed by a fire.
This smaller mill drained the polder with wind power, until an electrical installation was built in 1934 that could power the mill scoop wheel. In 1944, wind drainage was reintroduced and the windmill was given streamlining blades. After the milling activities for the polder were definitively stopped in 1962, the mill can only circulate the water in a so-called milling circuit.

Thank you, I had to wait some time, until the sun was breaking through. It became a bit cloudy at the end of the day.
