The name Zinnia dahlia is a bit confusing as it is not a dahlia but looks like it! It is a variant of the zinnia (Latin name: Zinnia elegans ) in which the flowers are extra large and full. Like a dahlia! The nice thing about the Zinnia dahlia is that you don't have to plant a tuber, you can just sow seeds. A “real” dahlia grows from a tuber and is very sensitive to night frost.
