Location
This was taken in my garden in the north east of Scotland, I have a wide variety of planting that gives me something to photograph for most of the year.Time
This was taken on the 21 May 2020 at 20:26, I had just been out seeing to our horses, on walking back to the house the light was fantastic so I grabbed my camera and took a series of photos, this being my favourite.Lighting
It was late evening the sun was low and warm, it lite up the Aquilegias and made them glow, I decided that my best shots would be into the light to put a nice rim of light around the plant.Equipment
The camera was a Canon 7D MKii with a EF 100mm 2.8 macro lens exposure was 1/125 sec @ f5.0 and was handheld.Inspiration
I have a wide variety of plants in my garden and whenever the lighting and the weather is favourable I will wander with my camera. The lighting was superb on this evening and luckily no breeze, everything was just right for a photoshoot.Editing
I do all my post processing in Lightroom, in this case I added a Golden hour preset just to add a little extra warmth and saturation to the image, then I go to Photoshop just to check the levels and to see if I need any final tweaks. This image needed very little doing in post processing. In my camera bag
I have a Canon 7D MKii with a Canon 100mm macro, 10 - 20 mm wide angle, 24 - 105mm zoom and a 100 - 400 zoom lens. I also carry a wireless remote and selection of ND filters.Feedback
When photographing into the light you need to careful with your exposure and choose your angle well to make the most of the light. Experiment, take as many photos as you like, play with exposure and lighting.
