Oooooh - great work. I have an image almost identical (except my processing is nowhere near as good as this).

Thanks Lyndon. Without intending to tell you to suck eggs in any way, are you shooting in RAW? If not then you have one post processing hand tied. And the other biggie for processing is adjustment layers, which give you almost infinite control - bloody maaaaaarvelous :-)

Location
In September (spring), Cape Palliser, Wairarapa, New Zealand.Time
About 11pm.Lighting
It was a crisp, calm evening with minimal moonlight, allowing the starlight to reveal itself nicely.Equipment
A Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 24-120 fixed F4 lens. This image is a stitch of 2 landscape shots. The zoom setting was 24mm, ISO 1600, F4 and shutter 13 sec.Inspiration
The lighthouse beam combined with the night sky made a great subject.Editing
Adjustments in Camera RAW to bring out the details and texture in the image. Stitching the 2 shots together. Then polishing in Photoshop to optimise clarity and sharpness. In my camera bag
I love the mountains, so as little as possible - at present a Nikon D750 camera body, a Nikkor 24-120 small zoom and the 55-300 bigger zoom, a spare battery and lightweight tripod. If I'm going for a summit then it's even less - a compact Lumix TZ2200 with mirrorless through the lens digital view finder, full manual operation and RAW file capture - absolutely great when you still want to control your photography but need to keep moving and can't afford to have stuff hanging off you.Feedback
Put on a warm coat and get out there.
