I took this photo at the Kaituna River Okere Falls near Rotorua New Zealand. I often go there to enjoy the peace and quiet, and to walk in the bush and to watch the white water rafters. This river is famous for white river rafting.Time
It would have been late morning or early afternoon on a lovely sunny day. I had no tripod and quickly took the shot because the sunlight dancing on the water was like diamonds.Lighting
The way the sun was shining on the water was beautiful and without thinking I quickly took a photo and hoped it would show how light dancing on water could look. If I recall, the sun came out from the clouds. This photo was taken some time ago on one of my frequent visits to the river.Equipment
I can't remember which camera I used. Sometimes I have my Nikon, or Canon, or my Samsung mobile phone. I am a beginner and often just randomly take photos.Inspiration
I love going up to Okere Falls to enjoy the bush walks and to visit different areas of the Kaituna River. My friend Heather and I often take 'time- out' from the hustle and bustle of life. Nature always inspires me - especially the changing moods of water. Some days the river is quiet and peaceful - other days it can be a raging current with water pouring over rocks and making it exciting for the white water rafters. Some days the river sparkles like diamonds which I managed to capture as an amateur photographer.Editing
No - the photo is as was taken. I have yet to learn about processing. Most of my photos are true to what shots I take, and I prefer not to process to much.In my camera bag
I have a Nikon Coolpix P900, which I often take with me. However, I can be places without it, and often use my Samsung mobile phone. I used to use a Canon but find the Nikon's colour much better.Feedback
As a beginner, I can only say - just aim the camera and shoot !! I am often thrilled at how some of my photos come out but know that I have so much more to learn. I just enjoy being able to capture nature as I see it. Sometimes in the wild things happen so quickly that I have found I don't have time to set the camera and I just take a shot.
