Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Rotorua Government Gardens, NZ. I am a beginner photographer and have had no lessons, but enjoy being out in nature and making little movies of my photos.

Time

I think the time was early afternoon with clouds in the sky

Lighting

I remember the day being somewhat cloudy - the flowers seemed to glow so I just aimed by camera without much thought and snapped a photo

Equipment

As this photo was taken about 2/3 years ago I am not sure if I used my mobile phone, or Canon. No flash, tripod, just me and the camera

Inspiration

I love flowers, especially in the springtime. They inspire and uplift me and give me hope for the coming year.

Editing

I did not process my photo

In my camera bag

I often use my Samsung 50 mobile phone camera as it is always with me, and I can shoot some unusual shots as I come across different situations. It is not always convenient for me to have my larger cameras. As a beginner I am finding my way with larger cameras. I have a Canon SX 410is, and a Nikon Coolpix P900.

Feedback

As a beginner, I would say experiment with your camera and of course get advice from experienced photographers. For me, I like to experience trial and error for myself. I enjoy aiming my camera at anything that grabs my attention - then I take photos at different angles and try to take a shot that shows the message of the flowers, and the music of nature in its raw form. I do not process my photos very much at this stage. I try and stay close as possible to what Gaia is showing me.
