You have given 2020 a positive swing that is really (nice) positive, a contribution to the Year 2020 Collection. As always, the competition will be tough, which, as an added consequence, makes the victory taste very sweet. Good luck and probably for the … time: Happy New Year and stay healthy in 2021!

To me, this is a Masterpiece because you were able to "give" me something I lack, the beautiful colors of Autumn! I live in an area of Florida where the seasons are Warm, Hot and Hotter!

This photo was taken in my front yard, under the maple tree.Time
I had just come home from walking the dog and it was a bright and sunny day. I always love how the sun shines through the maple tree so I decided to grab my camera and try to capture the beauty. I must have taken a few dozen photos from all angles (the neighbours must have thought I was crazy!); I tried more sun, less sun, closer, farther, etc.! When I got inside and loaded the images onto my computer I loved how this one shows the beautiful colour of the leaf and the rest of the tree in the background just worked.Lighting
As noted above, when I took the photo I had many attempts to get the "best" amount of sunlight to show through. Simply by moving around under the tree and crouching at different angles I had various results. I found that too much sun washed out the colour, but too little sun made the colours very dark. I was trying to get a bit of a sunburst effect but I really liked the way the background turned out from this angle. Happy accidents!Equipment
I used my Canon PowerShot SX520 HS camera; it's a pretty basic point-and-shoot with some good zoom capabilities. I'm still learning about how the manual settings work and am very much an amateur photographer so didn't have any fancy equipment or settings.Inspiration
I am a proud Canadian and love the symbolism of the Maple Leaf. I love how our maple tree seems to "glow" in the sunlight every morning and wanted to try to capture the beauty. I love how this image turned out and have it framed in my home.Editing
I do a bit of post-processing, mostly in Google Photos. I play around with lighting and colours to get the effect I'm looking for. This image didn't require much editing and mostly just cropped it and fine tuned the colours. In my camera bag
I'm an amateur photographer so my bag is pretty basic; I have my Canon PowerShot as well as my smaller (waterproof) FUJIFILM FinePix. I usually have a small adjustable tripod and a few extra camera cards as well.Feedback
The best advice I have is to take lots of shots! For me, trial and error seems to provide the best training. As mentioned, I took dozens of shots to get this image, playing around with different angles and distances from the subject.
