Location
This photo was taken near Denver International Airport at a sunflower field. The use of a zoom lens allowed me to capture the image from the side of the road without trespassing into the private field.Time
This photo was taken during sunset just as the last bit of sun was sitting on the horizon.Lighting
The location of the sun provide the right amount of backlight against the petals of the sunflower.Equipment
Nikon D750, Tamron 150-600 lens fully zoomed in at 600MM, Really Right Stuff tripod, no flash.Inspiration
This particular sunflower caught my attention, as it was standing up above the many other flowers in this particular field. Clouds out on the horizon provided the color I was looking for during the late evening sunset.Editing
I used a combination of Adobe Lightroom and Luminar 4 for my post processing. Processing included increasing the shadows and contrast, and bringing down the highlights. In my camera bag
I usually carry a Nikon D750 and D850 along with an assortment of lenses including Nikon 24-120, Tamron 24-70, Tamron 70-200 and Tamron 150-600.Feedback
My recommendation is to visit a sunflower field during early August or whenever they are nearly fully grown. Sunset is typically the best time to get the soft light in the sky and it also provides an opportunity to have the yellow colors pop out with backlight.
