Behind The Lens

Location

Taken on a back country road of the Poconos in Pennsylvania , USA. Just driving around, always with camera in the car, I saw this perfect shot and had to take it. Everything just lined up.

Time

This shot was taken in late afternoon. I absolutely love this shot and consider myself lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Lighting

I love black and white and moody shots. Ones that have an old timey, mysterious look. Could be any era.

Equipment

Believe it or not this was shot on my phone! Samsung SE20 FG5. I had just bought a new car and hadn't switched my equipment bag over yet.

Inspiration

I love empty places, roads, old houses, churches, destroyed, etc. I mostly take nature shots, but will stop and take a shot if I feel it.this scene just called to me. It felt spooky and calm all in one.

Editing

I took it in color then bled it out down to black and white then added in shading

In my camera bag

I have an old Canon digital SLR 8.2. While I am saving to upgrade, I don't believe I need too many bells and whistles to take good shots. You have to have a good eye and lots of luck.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to just stop and capture what you see. I have laid down in the middle of the street in between traffic, balanced at the top of White Face, and gone back to places over 10 times for the right lighting to get a shot I saw in my head and wanted to get.
