This was a pre-planned shot. I intended to shoot the Moon with the arch of Milkyway and the only thing I was worried about was the weather, as Milford Sound is known as the wettest inhabited place in New Zealand and it rains there on average 182 days a year. And I was lucky that it did not rain the day I planned to visit there. I try to plan and finalize my photography locations and spots well in advance before visiting any place or country - such is the case with any landscape photographer. During planning my visit to Milford Sound I checked the Milkyway position, etc and decided to shoot the Milkyway as I found out that the whole arch was going to be visible over the fiord during that time. When I reached Milford Sound during the day, I also checked everything one more time to finalize the place from where I'll be shooting the Milkyway at night and I found out that the Moon is going to set right behind the mountain, so I did change the shooting location such that the Moon's position falls (almost) in the middle of the Milkyway arch. I took the regular day shots, long exposures as well as Sunset. After dinner, I got back to the place where I intended to shoot this Milkyway.
