USA Southern California- "A glance on this spooky bug's immense red eyes could bring a chill down your spine!" This larger size fly with the big red eyes is a Blow Fly . This insect smells death then leaves larva that becomes maggots . The official name is Caliphoridae . On a positive note The maggot larva is used as fishing bait .The Blow-flies was first associated with the term " Blow"" in William Shakespeare's plays Love' Labor's Lost,The Tempest ,and Anthony and Cleopatra according to online research . So this spooky fly is both famous and infamous! I cropped the photo to enlarge the subject. This photo has no more edits. The light was bright natural sun light resulting in this exposure for this short depth of field.The Blow flies size is 0.3-0.4 inch or 8-10 mm.
