Location
This photo was taken in my backyard garden. I love to take photo's of flowers and do macro shots with them. I have been playing around with the macro more and more.Time
It was mid morning and I was pruning my vegetable garden when I saw this vibrant tiny purple eggplant flower blooming. I immediately saw the potential for using the macro lens on this.Lighting
The morning was clear and sunny and the eggplant was in the perfect spot offering just the right amount of light on this blooming flower. I wanted to show case the brilliance of the color and decided to encase it in the black to highlight the features of the flower. It's stamen was still fresh and the petals were rough yet appealing. With some blur and the light encasing it just so the piece showed well.Equipment
Canon Mark IV with a Canon 100 macro lens and 24-70 mm.Inspiration
Being in the garden and seeing the various flowers and vegetables always gives me creative thoughts to produce some great photo's of natures wonders.Editing
I did some simple editing to the photo to enhance the creativity. Dodge and burn on the outer edges along with some filtered blur and enhanced the highlight some. Sharpened a little and cropped to draw it in.In my camera bag
I use both my Canon Mark IV and 70D with the Canon 100 macro and 24-70 mm. These are my go to lenses and carry a tripod. For flower shots I always have a knee pad and twist ties to hold back stems to stabilize them or move other plant matter out of the wayFeedback
In the garden it is important to try and respect all the plants and not damage any. The ties are helpful and allows you to carefully tie back stems that may be in the way and then untie them so the are not damaged. Knee pad is always very helpful for low shots. Choosing days that are not windy is highly recommended.
