Sunset near the fort number 111, originally used as a windmill and converted as a military storehouse, the Passo Fort at its peak housed 250 soldiers and 5 cannons. In the historic context of the Peninsular War the forts were designed with the purpose of preventing an invading army from reaching the capital of the Kingdom of Portugal. Built between 1809 and 1812 the lines of defence were called of Lines of Torres Vedras.
